In 1791 a legend in Swiss watchmaking, Jean Francois Bautte, established a factory in Geneva. In 1854, Bautte’s factory merged with Girard-Perregaux; the company formed by the marriage in of watchmaker Constant Girard and heiress Marie Perregaux.
The product that established and still maintains the company’s reputation is the Tourbillon, with three gold bridges, in 1867. In 1992, the company was acquired by minority shareholder, Dr. Luigi “Gino” Macaluso. Under Macaluso’s guidance the company is striding back to the forefront of horology.
