Tag Heuer Calibre S Setting Instructions

Here we have summarised and attempted to simplify the setting / operating instructions for the Tag Heuer Link Calibre S model. The setting instructions for this model are identical for the Tag Heuer Calibre S Regatta and SLR  models.

These watches are notoriously difficult to get to grips with, however, once you have read through the instructions and familiarised yourself with the functions they are actually very easy to use and fantastically useful.

Please see the table below for the simplified Tag Heuer Calibre S manual.

If you still have problems setting or operating your Tag Heuer watch, we would be very happy to help. Do not hesitate to contact us either via the contact form or by telephone on 01159474482

CROWN

The crown has 3 position:

  • Pressed in
  • Neutral
  • Pulled out

Turning the crown has no effect in either position. The crown is a push button only that allows the user to change between modes

PUSH BUTTONS

The pushers serve different functions depending on the mode the watch is set in. We will refer to the top pusher at 2 o’clock as ‘button A’ and the bottom pusher at 4 o’clock as ‘button B’

Button A

In CHRONO mode: Start/Stop

In REGATTA mode: Synchronisation

Button B

In CHRONO mode: Split time/Reset to zero

In REGATTA mode: Setting countdown/Stop/Reset countdown to zero

Firstly, you need to ensure the watch is in TIME mode. In TIME mode, pull the crown out. This will allow you to set the time following the instrucitons below.

When setting the time and date, the second hand will indicate which element you are setting. This information will also be displayed on the caseback of your watch for reference.

Here is a key to identify which element is being set (see image to the left)

AM: 45′
PM: 15′
Minutes: 30′
Month: 00′
Year: 55′
Day: 05′

Setting the time

  • When setting the time, the seconds hand indicates the morning (AM at 45′) or the afternoon (PM at 15′)
  • In hour-setting mode, the hour hand moves from one full hour to another. Press button A to add one hour. With each complete revolution of the hour hand, the second hand movesautomatically from AM to PM and inversely
  • Once you have set the current hour, move to the minutes setting by pressing button B
  • In minutes-setting mode, the second hand will point to 30′. Pressing button A will add one minute each time.
  • Once the minutes are set to the current time you can either press the crown back in to the neutral position to exit setting-mode or you can press button B to move on to date-setting mode

Setting the Date

The movement is programmed with a perpetual calendar for the period from 1st January 2001 to 31st of December 2099. A perpetual calendar automatically changes the date at the end of each month including 29th February on a leap year.

If you have already set the time and are continuing on from time-setting mode you can follow the instructions below. If you are leaving TIME mode to set the date only, you must pull out the crown and press button B until the second hand points to 55′

  • In date-setting mode, the second handmoves to 55′. The left counter indicates the tens of years and the right counter indicates the units. Pressing button A will add 1 year
  • Once you have set the correct year, press button B to move to month-setting mode
  • In month-setting mode, the second hand moves to 00′. The left and right counters indicate the month. Press button A to add one month
  • Once you have set the month, press button B to enter day-setting mode
  • In day-setting mode, the second hand moves to 05′. The left and right counters indicate the day. Pressing button A will add one day
  • To return to time-setting mode press button B or push the crown back to neutral position to return to TIME mode

After changing the battery, or in case of a problem caused by shock or exposure to a strong magnetic field, it may be necessary to reset the hands to zero their position.
